The New Zealand National Commission for UNESCO is the focal point for UNESCO in New Zealand.
Purpose
The National Commission for UNESCO exists in fulfilment of New Zealand’s obligations as a Member State of UNESCO for the purpose of:
(i) Constituting the main channel of co-operation between UNESCO and New Zealand expertise in the areas of its mandate;
(ii) Managing New Zealand’s relationship with UNESCO.
Mission
The National Commission is UNESCO in New Zealand, engaging in its international activities and, through leadership and partnership, influencing and empowering people within the Asia-Pacific region, particularly New Zealand and the Pacific Island states.
