A Pacific dialogue on religious diversity was proposed on the 28th August 2008 after a two-day meeting of Pacific academics, theologians, faith community leaders and community representatives convened by the New Zealand National Commission for UNESCO in Auckland.
Delegates identified the need to develop stronger connections with each other, to create spaces for dialogue, to broaden the conversation between and within faith traditions, and to support research and education about religions within the Pacific.
