United Nations International Year of Languages 2008

The New Zealand National Commission for UNESCO has enthusiastically embraced the role of lead agency for the UN International Year of Languages 2008 in New Zealand.

Our primary goal is to raise public awareness of the Year, through partnerships with other organisations involved in teaching, learning, speaking and retaining languages.

We are championing the activities of academics, students, teachers, newcomers to New Zealand, and all those for whom language is the key to communication, and communication is the key to understanding.

If you know of a group or organisation that would like to be involved with the International Year of Languages 2008 in New Zealand please contact us.
